We’re in the Hudson Valley in Upstate NY at The Purple Spoon Bakery, owned and hosted by baketress Linda Tuthill, whose passion for crafting unforgettable culinary experiences is seen in her creations for weddings and other special occasions.
Culinary Experiences, Customized for Each Wedding

“The bakery started as a blog,” Linda tells us, “which led to classes, a café, and then, in 2018, I launched it as the custom-order online bakery it is today.”
Combining two decades in the luxury wedding industry with her childhood growing up on her grandparents’ farm, Linda integrates natural ingredients, traditional techniques, and a high attention to detail in each of her creations. Her delicious desserts are also designed to capture the essence of each wedding or special occasion she’s baking for.
“We’re a boutique dessert studio, baking up small batch confections completely from scratch. We’re known for our modern feminine designs, as we create beautiful, and sometimes irreverent, edible art for your most memorable occasion.”
Linda’s journey began with a love for Julia Child. While at home with her son one day, she watched Julia’s The French Chef and was charmed by a moment where Julia casually said, “and you stir it with a purple spoon!”
“It was a quirky, yet memorable moment that sparked a deep connection for me, leading to the creation of The Purple Spoon Bakery—a name that symbolizes both my love of baking and my playful approach to the craft.
Natural Ingredients, Locally Sourced
“Like many, I started baking with my mom back when I needed to stand on a stool to reach the counter. I always loved sweets, and we spent years perfecting our chocolate chip cookies. We also grew a lot of what we ate, whether it was vegetables from our garden or berries at my grandparents to make jam. I apply this concept to my baking and always want to use the freshest, most locally sourced ingredients possible. I love the process of baking, the science of it, and certainly the end result, which is super rewarding!”
Buttercream Flower Cakes, Decorated Sugar Cookies, & TV Too!
“We specialize in buttercream flower cakes and decorated sugar cookies with an elegant spin. Our most popular cake combination is our vanilla cake with homemade raspberry jam filling and passionfruit buttercream. Along with the cakes and cookies, we offer a limited selection of other desserts; our marbled cheesecake brownies are insanely popular and are jokingly referred to as ‘Marriage Proposal Brownies.’ ”
Currently, Linda shares her expertise as the host of a TV show on Home Inspo TV, where she inspires viewers with creative baking tips, stunning designs, and her signature blend of artistry and technique. Her presence on screen further highlights her role as a leader in the luxury baking industry.
“I believe food connects people and weaves its way into our memories,” says Linda. “I get to be a small part of that, bringing joy to people through desserts. It’s the little experiences that make me smile; the Granpa eating our chocolate cake at a wedding, saying it reminds him of his birthday cake when he was a kid, or the bride and groom sharing our cake on their wedding day, knowing that bite is creating a future memory. I’m forever grateful I can do what I love and share that love with so many people!”
