Elegance & Style From Genna Makeup
“My style in is to build on each bride’s natural beauty,” says makeup artist Genna DiGiovanna. “I want every bride to be her best self. I lean towards products that are healthy for your skin, since I believe healthy skin is the first step to having a perfect bridal look.”
“I always enjoyed the artistic side of the hair industry,” says hair stylist Miesha Edmond. “Bridal is my favorite because I am able to combine the bride’s imagination, the look of her dress, and my art together, to tell a love story that she will never forget. Brides are very sensitive in that moment and the fact that I can make them feel comfortable and fabulous is amazing!”

Modern Retro
Above … “This look felt romantic,” says Genna. “The headpiece and dress had great detail so I used a plum lip color. Showcasing her beautiful blue eyes, I made her shadow bolder and added Ardell lashes. Then I used Laid Bare Eye Palette from Lily Lolo.”
“The detail on the dress’s bodice and headpiece inspired a slightly modern twist to a retro hairdo,” says Miesha, “so I created a faux bob with extremely large waves to give a soft and carefree look, set the hair using a flatiron, allowed the curls to cool, and then I waved the hair and set it using a 1-inch Red Proby Kiss titanium flatiron, Rusk ‘Texture’ dry finishing spray, and Kenra Platinum Silkening mist.” (Gown: Bossina Signature BC8203)
Genna & Miesha’s Bridal Beauty Tips:
Go Easy … “Go for low-maintenance hair. Choose a style that looks equally beautiful from the aisle to the final dance.”Choose Lasting Beauty … “Healthy skin is a must. Use face masks each week leading up to your wedding day.”
High Drama
“A dramatic look complemented this black dress,” says Genna. “I love a good red lip! The red shade was from Anastasia. Her side swept hair played well with that. Brows frame a face and I showcased hers with a brunette pencil, keeping them intact with clear brow gel.” “The bride’s dress gave an award-winning vibe,” says Miesha, “and I couldn’t let the chance to play up the neckline and beautiful sparkle pass me by! The hair was previously set for waves, I paddle brushed the curls and waves out and directed the hair to the side. A few hidden bobby pins secured the hair and I added Aveda’s control paste to sculpt the hairline and any flyaways and put crystal baby’s breath in her hair.” (Gown: Lucia Rodriguez)
Soft & Romantic
“For this ‘Soft & Glowy’ look I used pinks and nudes,” explains Genna, “which play well with white flowers and a floral dress. Her fresh look was enhanced with Amrezy Highlighter from Anastasia.”
“The updo was a must when it came to the flow of the dress and Maria’s shoulders and neckline!” says Miesha. “I did an off-centered part with two French braids separated, tucked, and pinned to carefree perfection. Light tendrils of hair were pulled out and slightly waved for extra style and the entire look was sprayed with RUSK Texture dry finishing spray, medium hold, and a light spray of Kenra Silkening Mist to seal the deal.” (Gown: Eve of Milady, 357)
