The Roundhouse is a gorgeous place to be married. It’s right next to a roaring waterfall, has beautiful architecture, and was available on New Year’s Eve! Their service is incredible and there is so much you can do with the space. Working with
them was white glove the whole way.

“Gorgeous, Incredible Service”

Brendan and I met on a dating app, The League, and talked for a few months before meeting for our first date. We met early in the evening and ended up talking until midnight! We both know it was the best date of our lives. We went from seeing each other once a week, to spending weekends together, to four months later deciding to move in together! We traveled to London, then to Mexico for his birthday, and from early on we knew we were in love.

Brendan’s proposal was incredibly special. My mother has Huntington’s Disease, an incurable brain disease, and for about a year we spent nearly every other weekend in Rhinebeck, NY with her. I fell even more in love watching how he cared for her. On one of our trips, he suggested a walk on Ryan Road; a beautiful place where you can see the mountains and the trees. A few steps into the walk I said that it might be too cold for my mom. Still, it was a blue sky day so I asked a passerby to take a picture. I turned around and saw Brendan on one knee! That passerby happened to be the photographer he had hired! We both cried joyously and celebrated with my mom at one of our favorite local restaurants. Afterward, my mom showed all her friends and caretakers my ring, beaming that her daughter just got engaged.

We loved the sales and events manager, who was super responsive and diligently answered my questions. Their thoughtful curation of vendors plus New York quality and creativity with food made us feel confident and guided through every step. We had an incredible experience and highly recommend them. We were enjoying our planning so much, we decided to have our rehearsal dinner in their gorgeous restaurant too!

Our ceremony was officiated by my college best friend, Claire Papp, an early cheerleader of our relationship and a lifelong friend to both of us. Brendan and I read our personal vows alone, just the two of us, and said traditional vows in front of our guests. It was a meaningful, sentimental ceremony with many special readings. We have a touching photo of my mom walking back down the aisle, cheering with joy.

Cocktail hour featured a Tito’s vodka dirty martini and a Bulleit Bourbon Old Fashioned, drinks Brendan and I are known for ordering. It was so cool to watch The Roundhouse specially craft each drink. We had a steamed dumpling station, mini burgers, beef chimichurri skewers; all of which were so delicious. Before my mom headed home, we got to toast her with champagne.

Our décor was simple, classic, and formal. The guys wore black and white tuxes and my bridesmaids wore stunning black gowns; the maid of honor, my sister’s, being sparkly. We had a gorgeous light display down the tall glass windows and our table arrangements were simple, with lots of greenery and white, accented by black candles and hints of gold.

Dinner was a mixed greens salad as an appetizer, followed by a choice of roast day boat cod with risotto, a short rib with a twice-baked potato, or a cauliflower steak as a vegetarian option. Our four-tier buttercream frosted wedding cake had alternating layers of carrot cake and devil’s food cake. The Hank Lane Band was fantastic.

I danced to “Carolina on my Mind” with my dad, which hyped up the night as many of my friends were from North Carolina. After the speeches the night became a big NYE party with a festive atmosphere. The tall ceilings were perfect for a gold balloon drop at midnight. We had sparkly hats and crowns, glow stick necklaces, and noisemakers. Everyone had the time of their lives!

Our day was so special. Thank you to my aunts for baking nearly a thousand cookies in their Czech tradition. Thank you to my coordinator for her incredible talent, to my florist on the stunning florals, to my hair stylist who gave me and my bridesmaids some of “the best wedding hair ever!” Thank you to my photographer, who captured the sweet moments with my mom, to our cinematographer for a video we’ll forever cherish. Thank you to The Roundhouse for your consummate professionalism and the gorgeous space. Our whole team was Grade A and we are so happy with our night!
