Why We Chose Our Venue ...

Jillian & Alan's Wedding at Hudson House“Being very close to where we live and work, Hudson House was always significant to us. When we went for the tour, they were still under construction, but even while wearing hard hats, we got an electric feeling. We could see the grandiose open floor plan, the tall ceilings, and the spectacular view of the skyline.

“Standing at the windows looking at the Freedom Tower, the Statue of Liberty, and over the Hudson River felt meaningful and just right. We loved that we would have the place all to ourselves. There were so many gorgeous options for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception, and the neutral palette served to emphasize the New York views.”

Spectacular Views”

Alan and I broke the cardinal rule: “Don’t fall in love at the Jersey Shore.” We were in Belmar when we met and both went home not knowing if we’d ever see each other again. Fate, and friends, brought us together the very next weekend, and we’ve been inseparable ever since. He now does mechanical insulation and I am in marketing.

One weekend we went down to Boca Raton, FL to spend time with family. Alan asked if I wanted to go for a walk. We had the beach  and there was a beautiful cotton candy sunset and after walking along nervously for a few minutes, Alan got down on one knee and proposed.

When we started looking at venues, we focused on Landmark’s locations. Hudson House, being very close to where we live and work, was always significant to us. When we went for the tour, they were still under construction, but even while wearing hard hats, we got an electric feeling. We could see the grandiose open floor plan, the tall ceilings, and the spectacular view of the skyline. Standing at the windows looking at the Freedom Tower, the Statue of Liberty, and over the Hudson River felt meaningful and just right. When planning our wedding, we loved that we would have the place all to ourselves. There were so many gorgeous options for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception, and the neutral palette served to emphasize the New York views.

We worked with Jeanne Cretella, the president of Landmark Hospitality, and her years of experience made her incredible to work with. She put us at ease,  guided us through decisions, and in the end, felt like family. She was amazing throughout the entire process. Our ceremony was in the main ballroom, in front of the tall windows overlooking the Hudson River. We timed it so the sun was setting behind us and golden light was reflecting off the water and the buildings. Cocktail hour was on another floor. Everyone loved the stunning view, the food, and the terrace. The stations, like the Himalayan salt station with meats cooked on exotic pink Himalayan salt blocks, had foods that looked as impressive as they tasted.

Back in the ballroom, Hudson House had completely transformed the room for the reception. Removing the pipe and drape from the ceremony, the dazzling custom chandeliers reflected the stars from the sky outside. The sun had set and the glow of the ballroom, twinkling with candles, was breathtaking. We kept our vibe chic, Hamptons-esque, and modern with gray tones for our linens. The floral arrangements were in shades of white and blush and filled with greenery. Our tasting for dinner went phenomenally, and we were blown away that Hudson House replicated such outstanding quality for 220 people. Our guests raved about the food.

We were able to choose a fall-themed menu thanks to their endless selections. We chose the wood-roasted butternut squash salad for our appetizer and the wood-grilled tenderloin and pan-seared red snapper for our entrées, with a vegetarian dish available upon request. For dessert, we had our wedding cake, vanilla and chocolate layers with chocolate fudge and dulce de leche mousse filling, served alongside a variety of chocolate, pistachio, and apricot biscotti! The exit station at the end of the night, with cheeseburger sliders and curly fries, was the perfect savory snack to eat on the way out.

We put our DJ on the mezzanine balcony that overlooks the ballroom, which allowed us to maximize the view and the space, and also gave the dance floor a club-like feel that pumped up the crowd. Victor, our maître d’, and Billie, our bridal attendant, were both super attentive and there for anything we needed. We felt so pampered and able to focus on enjoying ourselves!
