The Wedding of Brittany & John ...

How They Chose Their Venue

Brittany & Josh's Wedding at VIP Country Club“John loves the water and I love fall colors so Westchester was the perfect place to start. VIP Country Club was the first venue we visited and by the end of the day we knew it was the one. Nothing else compared to the combination of class, views, and character.

“We met with Tiffany Hogan, the private events manager, and throughout the entire process she was fantastic at guiding us. We needed things to be planned efficiently to fit our busy schedules, and with her help we were able to do that.”

Class & Character”

Brittany: John and I met on Tinder and went on our first date in Port Jefferson, NY. We were at a rooftop restaurant, talking and watching the water. After lunch we went to get drinks by the dock, and the next thing we realized, our first date had lasted 10 hours! In that time we had already planned our second date together. For the next three years I was in medical school and residency, which forced us to navigate a long distance relationship. It was a lot of FaceTiming, phone calls, and weekend trips. When I finally matched into a residency program in New York, we were able to move in and start our lives together!

John: I enlisted one of our friends to invite Brittany to Port Jefferson to relive the old days. When we got there, I took her to the docks where we had spent time during our first date. We had to cross a construction barrier, but Brittany didn’t think twice and just hopped over to get there. I proposed, Brittany started crying and laughing, and soon realized our families were watching out of the restaurant windows the whole time.

Brittany: John loves the water and I love fall colors so Westchester was the perfect place to start. VIP Country Club was the first venue we visited and by the end of the day we knew it was the one. Nothing else compared to the combination of class, views, and character. We met with Tiffany Hogan, the private events manager, and throughout the entire process she was fantastic at guiding us. We needed things to be planned efficiently to fit our busy schedules, and with her help we were able to do that.

John: We requested a tasting before signing our contract and VIP was more than happy to accommodate us. Their food exceeded our expectations. One detail that sold us was that they were flexible in letting us decide last minute whether we wanted an indoor or outdoor ceremony, because late October can be unpredictable. They did everything possible to make us comfortable every step of the way. We were able to make our wedding everything we wanted it to be.

Brittany: John is Catholic and I am Jewish, so we had a civil celebrant officiate our wedding, using traditions from both religions. The day of the wedding, we stepped outside and saw the aisle lined with our centerpieces leading to the gorgeous hand-painted chuppah my mother made, all against the sweeping backdrop of water and foliage. It was everything we had hoped for.Brittany & Josh's Wedding at VIP Country Club

John: The room for our cocktail hour has a modern lounge feel with big booths perfect for gathering together. With access to the patio with string lights, our guests could mingle and step outside as they pleased. Our officiant played the keyboard, our photographer played a slideshow of photos, and everyone really enjoyed the food. VIP let us customize the menu with our favorites, such as a mac and cheese bar, a NY deli station, and a Himalayan salt station.

Brittany: Our ballroom decor was fairly simple. The spacious dance floor and tall ceilings are so beautiful and give the room a personality of its own. We chose high and low centerpieces with dark, bold flowers surrounded by candles. Our colors were maroon, orange, and sage. Our band was awesome. We wanted a big party feel and they delivered with great oldies, new music, and phenomenal mash-ups. We began the night with the hora, which John had never experienced, and the night kicked off with excitement.

John: After a Tuscan stack appetizer, our guests chose from five entrées: grilled New York strip steak, herb-crusted red snapper, and French breast of Hudson Valley chicken. Also available was a vegetarian dish and a surprise chef’s choice entrée, a delicious shrimp scampi. Our desserts included New York cheesecake, rainbow cookies, a fruit skewer, and our wedding cake. We had an exit station of hot pretzels and ended the night with a two-hour after-party with a DJ in the cocktail hour space.

Brittany & John: Thank you to Brittany’s parents, especially her mom who helped with every detail and ran the show! Thank you to Tiffany, who answered all our questions and was always so helpful. All our vendors were amazing and we wouldn’t have changed our team for the world!
