Angela & Paul at Surf Club on the Sound

Why We Chose Our Venue ...

“As soon as we saw the entrance of Surf Club on the Sound, we knew it was the venue for us. The large entrance gates, the cascading water fountain, and the expansive ocean views made us feel surrounded by beauty. Surf Club has elegance and class.

“We were greeted by Jaime Gizzo, the banquet manager, who made the wedding process seamless from signing the contract to the wedding day. After meeting Jaime, we knew our wedding was in the best hands possible, and that our day would be flawless. He was available at all times of the day for our many questions throughout the process. We couldn’t have asked for a better team to facilitate the day and ensure our guests were happy, having fun, and satisfied!”

“Surrounded by Beauty”

We were both invited to a mutual friend’s summer house in Belmar, NJ. When I arrived, Paul introduced himself and we hit it off immediately. We all went out that night and after having a great time together, we exchanged numbers. Paul invited me to a Yankees game a few weeks later. I agreed to go, but my lack of sports enthusiasm was evident, and we soon took our date elsewhere. What we did have was a shared love for food, especially Italian food.

We dated for three years and were living together in Stamford, Connecticut when Paul texted me asking if I’d like to go to dinner. I agreed and he made a reservation at Valbella, our favorite restaurant. I thought nothing of the weeknight dinner plans, or of them seating us at a prime location table. We ordered drinks and Paul “ran to the bathroom.” Really, he went to give the waiter his phone to record. He came back, followed by the waiter carrying two glasses of champagne. I saw the champagne and looked at Paul, thinking our waiter was mistaken. He’d called earlier in the day to tell the waiter to bring us champagne no matter our order and he was down on one knee, proposing. I ran upstairs to call my parents, only to find Paul thought of everything. Our parents were there waiting to surprise us and join us for dinner!

We were married in my childhood church, Our Lady of Good Counsel in Inwood, NY. It was an honor to be married there, surrounded by our loving family and friends from near and far. We arranged our day so we didn’t miss a second of the amazing cocktail hour at Surf Club! The extravagant set up, with the beach backdrop on a perfect spring day, was incredible. We were able to experience all the flavors of our many stations, including the Mediterranean station, the pasta station, the seafood bar, dumpling station, and the talk of the night, the fresh mozzarella station.

We accentuated the many chandeliers in the ballroom with low, overflowing centerpieces, giving each their own space to be admired. We added tiered candles around each centerpiece to bounce light off the crystals in the chandeliers and twinkle throughout the night. Our florist took our vision and made it a reality. Behind our sweetheart table was a flower wall handmade by myself, Paul, and his father. It was stunning and guests couldn’t believe we made it!

Our guests enjoyed a dinner starting with burrata salad, followed by penne alla vodka. Entrées were branzino, chicken Wellington, and filet mignon. We ended with a Viennese hour with cannolis, cookies, ice cream, and waffles. A final touch was a cigar roller, rolling handmade cigars, complete with a custom label. Our guests brought the term “dance the night away” to life. Our DJ gave us exactly what we wanted and kept our guests on the dance floor all night! The photo booth was a fun addition!
