Joseph and I met while working together at the same company. We’ve been together ever since and were together for eight years when we got engaged. I still work for the same company as a senior litigation rep and he works in law enforcement.
We got back from a trip to St. Martin and Joseph told me we were going to dinner for his father’s birthday. When we got to the restaurant, the hostess walked us around the entire place, until finally coming to a table with all our closest friends and family there! Joseph got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was so excited, I don’t even remember my response; it was an overwhelming joy to be able to share that moment with everyone we loved!

It was important to us to involve our faith, so we had our ceremony at St. Mary’s Church. Guests were greeted at our ceremony with infused fruit waters and lemonade. As I walked down the aisle, a pianist played beautiful music and guests threw lavender. Our traditional ceremony was officiated by Father McGee, who married us on the Colt patio, overlooking the beautiful landscape.
Our cocktail hour was held on Waterside’s second floor, eye level with the city. All our guests raved about the food, especially the mini filet mignon bites and the raw bar! We had it filled with shrimp and clams, and everything was super fresh.
The reception was on the third floor, and for our décor we went for an elegant, city-chic vibe. I mixed tables, having a combination of round and long rectangle tables. We had mirrors lining the long rectangle tables, with roses arranged all down the center. We also had mirrors in the center of our round tables, with cylinders of varying heights filled with orchids. We took advantage of the uplighting provided by Waterside and loved the televisions on the wall, so everyone could see themselves in the photos being taken.
Our DJ did an amazing job keeping everyone on the dance floor. We felt like it was an awesome night out at a club. As an appetizer, we had fresh mozzarella with vine-ripened tomatoes. For dinner, we served chicken francese with lemon butter sauce, chateaubriand with a bordelaise sauce, and a Chilean sea bass with lemon thyme butter. For our dessert we went with family-style pastries on every table, and had a delicious cake from Palermo’s Cake Bakery with two layers of cannoli and one layer of red velvet.
We are so grateful to everyone who made our day everything we dreamed of. Our friends and family helped us celebrate in such an amazing way! The staff at Waterside, particularly Lesley Lovett, who has become a friend, and Shantal Videla, maître d’, always helped without being asked and met every need and desire we had. Our wedding was the most amazing day of our lives, and we will remember the love and joy forever.
