The Wedding of Kristin & Frank ...
How They Chose Their Venue
“My parents are in the wedding entertainment industry and I’ve seen many venues. Glen Island Harbour Club always stood out as a place with the highest standards. Rocco Agostino, the general manager, is incredibly friendly. The food is always amazing, and we loved that it was on the water. Albert Duga, the executive chef, was very personable and helped us customize our menu to have all the foods we wanted.”
“The Highest Standards”
Kristin: Frank and I met in high school after I moved and transferred to Dobbs Ferry. It didn’t take long for us to start dating. We’ve been together ever since and now I’m an emergency room project analyst and Frank works for IBM marketing.
Frank: Twelve years after meeting I proposed to Kristin. I asked her mom, sister, and best friend to set up our apartment while I took her out to dinner. Coincidentally, Kristin chose the restaurant right across from our apartment. I had to keep her from turning her head towards the window the entire meal, because you could see them going in and out of our building!
Kristin: After dinner we were going to meet some friends. We went to our apartment to change and I walked in to a rose runway, a bottle of champagne, and our dog with a sign around his neck, “My humans are getting married.” Frank proposed and afterwards told me all our friends and family were at a local bar waiting to celebrate.
Frank: My parents are in the wedding entertainment industry and I’ve seen many venues through DJ’ing. Glen Island Harbour Club always stood out as a place with the highest standards. Rocco Agostino, the general manager, is incredibly friendly. The food is always amazing, and we loved that it was on the water. Albert Duga, the executive chef, was very personable and helped us customize our menu to have all the foods we wanted.
Kristin: Our ceremony was held at Sacred Heart Church, our local church in Dobbs Ferry. My uncle is a pastor, so he, the local priest, and the priest who married my parents all participated in our ceremony. We felt so blessed to have such personal connections to the people officiating our wedding.
Frank: Our cocktail hour was a festive, fun atmosphere. We had it indoors, since it was November, but there was the option to have heated lamps if the weather was milder. We had a lot of seafood. The calamari and mussels were some of our favorites. We also chose a Coney Island station with hot dogs and hamburgers, and had our signature drinks, “The K Fan & Ginger,” which was Jack Daniel’s and ginger ale, and the “Frianswali,” which was Stoli orange and soda.
Kristin: We loved the ballroom for our reception. It was large enough to fit 275 people, but intimate enough to keep everyone in the center of the room on the dance floor. The breathtaking 180 degree views of the water were a gorgeous backdrop to our evening. We used glass cylinders with floating candles and sticks as our centerpieces, which gave a warm glow, and put eucalyptus at each place setting, which provided a clean, fresh scent.
Frank: For dinner we offered filet mignon, chicken, or sesame seed-crusted salmon. I kept hearing how delicious the salmon was, and when the chef came to check on us, I mentioned that I’d love to try it. He didn’t hesitate to bring us the second entrée. Glen Island Harbour Club made our beautifully presented cake in the semi-naked style, with cannoli filling. For music, which to us was a huge part of our wedding, we had a 10-piece band as well as a DJ. The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception were all enhanced by their talent, but the reception was a true showcase of entertainment. Kristin and I spent the whole night on the dance floor surrounded by everyone we love.
Kristin & Frank: We would love to thank our parents for helping us have our dream wedding. Thank you to Rocco and everyone else at Glen Island Harbour Club, for putting together an evening we will never forget. To our bridal party, our officiants, Kristin’s sister, and Frank’s brother, thank you for the time spent to help give our big day that extra special touch. We thank our photographer and videographer for capturing the love and happiness of our wedding day. We will always look back on our photos, and our day, with joy!
