“Absolutely Gorgeous Scenery”
Steven and I met as freshman in high school. We sat near each other in math class and immediately hit it off. We dated for two years before going our separate ways. We remained friends and eventually rekindled our relationship. We’re best friends and laugh constantly around each other. We moved in together several years later, and less than a year later Steven proposed!
He was going to propose on a trip to San Francisco, but the ring was burning a hole in his pocket. I came home from work to flowers and Steven cooking me dinner. Sweet, but not unusual. He wrote in a card everything he loves about me, and at the end wrote, “I love the idea of spending the rest of my life trying to find out more things I love about you.” I looked up to see him kneeling with my ring in his hand. I was in complete shock. He filmed the whole thing and I love seeing my reaction and the moment over and over again. We went out to celebrate and our parents and some friends were waiting for us!
We chose SkyView Golf Club for its absolutely gorgeous scenery. The views during the ceremony were fantastic and the cocktail hour room and ballroom were newly renovated. Rafael Payano, the general manager, and Michelle Flores Payano, the banquet sales manager, made us feel welcome the moment we stepped in for our tour. Throughout the planning process, Michelle was always available to answer any questions or concerns.
The weather for our day was perfect. Everyone was able to enjoy the lush, green views at our cocktail hour with the new floor-to-ceiling windows in the ballroom. Everything was delicious. We had a lovely champagne display, hot and cold hors d’oeuvres, a carving station, chafing dishes, and multiple live stations. Our favorites were the buffalo chicken spring rolls, the coconut shrimp with mango rum sauce, and the kale potstickers with teriyaki sauce.
For our reception, we chose light pink and earthy tones. We had geometric centerpieces with flowers cascading out of them and incorporated gold candles around the table. We had beige tablecloths with light pink napkins and amber uplighting to create a candlelit feel. Our florist did an awesome job with our flowers. Dinner started with a Tuscan panzanella salad with fresh mozzarella. The entrée was a duet pairing of chateaubriand with bordelaise sauce and roasted chicken in a mushroom cream sauce. For dessert, we gave our guests a slice of our wedding cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and chocolate-covered strawberries, all drizzled with chocolate syrup.
Our families are both super fun and since we’ve known each other for so long all our friends know each other. It was a very close-knit wedding and we danced the entire time. Our DJ knew how to keep everyone dancing and read the crowd expertly. I’ve had people ask me for the playlist!
Steven and I would like to thank our parents for all their love and support! We’d like to thank Michelle and the rest of the SkyView team for taking care of us on our wedding day. To all our vendors, thank you for making the day stress-free and enjoyable. Our photographer was so professional and fun to work with. It was an amazing event and we will never forget it!
