We Chose Our Venue Because...

Nick and I met at Mohegan Sun Casino. I was there for a girls’ weekend and he was there for a friend’s bachelor party. We passed each other and he stopped, turned around, and asked if I had plans for the night. He invited me and my friends to hang out with him and his friends. Being a gentleman, Nick gave me his number and told me the ball was in my court. After some convincing from my friends, we stopped in for a few drinks. Immediately, Nick and I found plenty to talk about. A couple of hours later, I gave him my number.
We were approaching our two-year anniversary when Nick asked me to marry him. It was Mother’s Day weekend and we were heading to New York to celebrate with my family. We decided to stop for a drink beforehand and were walking down to the water when I saw a huge heart drawn in the sand; Nick got down on one knee and asked me the greatest question I have ever been asked! To my surprise, my sister and brother-in-law were there taking pictures and we all drove to the restaurant for dinner. When we arrived, I was again surprised to find Nick’s family there too! It was such a special night to remember with all the people we love and care about.
Since my father was the general manager at Falkirk Estate, I got up close and personal with how everything runs. It’s absolutely stunning and I had seen the ins and outs of Falkirk Estate prior to my wedding, so when Nick and I got engaged I knew it was the place for us. My father’s distinct attention to detail and ability to make every wedding so unique make him the best person to help plan a wedding. The grounds at Falkirk Estate are astounding and every event there is always exquisite.
The entire staff at Falkirk Estate is so attentive and they did a fabulous job making our day feel magical. Getting ready in the bridal suite the morning of the wedding felt like VIP treatment; Falkirk provided a fruit and cheese platter for us and mini bacon, egg, and cheese bagels for the guys. Our ceremony was held at St. Anastasia Catholic Church and officiated by Father Michael Keane, who has known me since I was a little girl.
Our cocktail hour was at Falkirk Estate, and I have so many good things to say, I don’t know where to begin. There was every type of food imaginable! We had a steak carving station, an Italian Sunday dinner station, hot and cold seafood stations displayed in an ice clam sculpture, and a Mexican station that served tequila shots. There were so many delicious passed hors d’oeuvres, it’s hard to pick favorites! We had coconut shrimp, Maryland crab cakes, and cheese quesadillas, to name a few.
The ballroom décor was something out of a movie; our centerpieces were stunning, filled with romantic cream-colored hydrangeas and dendrobium orchids. The dance floor was constantly filled with our friends and family dancing to a variety of genres. Nick absolutely loves to dance so I knew the dance floor would be going all night, thanks to our amazing band and DJ!
For food, we started with a butternut squash ravioli, followed by a fresh mozzarella and tomato napoleon, and before the entrée, a lemon sorbet. We gave our guests the options of filet mignon and garlic jumbo shrimp, Chilean sea bass, and Falkirk chicken stuffed with sautéed spinach and Asiago cheese. We had a classic wedding cake, and family-style dessert towers on every table. No one left our wedding hungry!
Our entire day was more than Nick and I could’ve ever imagined. We cannot thank our friends and family enough for joining in our celebration, especially those who had to travel! To our parents, thank you for loving us unconditionally. To my dad, thank you for making me feel like a princess! Thank you to our amazing photographers, Allen and Vicki Levine, for capturing the best memories, and to DJ Broccoli for creating a magnificent video so we can always relive that day. To the entire staff at Falkirk, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making every detail perfect and for making sure Nick and I enjoyed ourselves fully!
