“Above & Beyond”
Our story began with all our mutual friends thinking we’d be great together, and constantly reminding us of that. Danny and I were friends for a long time, but never took the plunge into dating. He persisted and eventually we went on our first date. I didn’t eat fish, so when he took me to Fat Fish for dinner, it was an immediate joke among our whole group of friends, and an endearing memory for us. Danny and I now laugh over it and go back to the restaurant on occasion, with Danny encouraging me to be more adventurous!
We’ve always loved Montauk, and were spending a weekend there stopping at all our favorite spots, drinking, eating, and enjoying bonfires. We were leaving our hotel one morning to head to the wineries, when Danny reminded me that I had some gems from a bracelet lying on the bed. I went to pick up the pieces and flipped back the cover to see the most gorgeous engagement ring I had ever seen. I turned around and Danny was on one knee. It was very intimate and was everything I ever wanted.
We were so excited to start venue searching we jumped right into it. Heritage Club at Bethpage was the third venue we saw, and as soon as we walked through the doors, we both knew it was the venue for us! The grounds at Bethpage State Park made absolutely stunning backdrops for our pictures, and we loved that they only host one wedding at a time, so we would have the entire place to ourselves! The classic look and elegant vibe of the venue was exactly what we wanted and our sales coordinator was an absolute pleasure to work with. She, and the entire staff, made us feel so comfortable by being so personable, friendly, and constantly available to answer our questions.
The cocktail hour had multiple rooms for our guests to mingle in. There were two massive bars and seating both indoors and outdoors. We always love the cocktail hour at weddings, so we wanted ours to be impressive and we were thrilled with our guests’ response to everything. Everyone was talking about the impeccable wait staff and food. Favorites were the fried calamari and baked clam bar and the Mexican cantina station which had a make-your-own tacos set up and margaritas. Danny’s favorites were the baby lamb chops and the braised short rib with garlic mashed potatoes on a spoon. Mine was the grilled cheese with tomato soup!
Our reception was everything we wanted and we never saw a guest without a smile on their face. The entire staff at The Heritage Club was so attentive and the vendors they recommended blew our expectations out of the water. The dance floor was massive, but the DJ kept all 230 of our guests up to keep it full. For the appetizer, we had fresh burrata mozzarella and heirloom tomato salad with field greens. For entrées, we gave our guests the choice of grilled filet mignon with bordelaise sauce; chicken roulade stuffed with asparagus, fresh mozzarella, and roasted red peppers; or a blackened striped bass topped with corn and watermelon salsa. For dessert, we had a plated cake, passed mini ice cream cones, tiramisu shooters, fried peanut butter and jelly, and chocolate chip cookies on a stick.
We’d like to thank everyone at The Heritage Club at Bethpage. Everything went as smoothly as possible, and everything we could have ever wanted was made available to us. My bridal attendant, Janet, went above and beyond to make sure Danny and I were having the best night possible. She applied my lip gloss, hand fed me cheese during photos, fluffed my dress, and even helped my husband with a cool cloth as he was sweating from dancing so much! Our photographers and videographers were incredible and perfectly captured our wedding day. We cannot thank The Heritage Club enough for making our wedding dreams a reality.
