“Breathtaking Grounds”
I am a teacher and Joe is an electrician. We were set up for a blind date by family friends and he took me to an Italian restaurant. We hit it off right away. On Christmas a year and a half later, we celebrated at Hotel du Village.
Jeanne & Frank Cretella, the owners, and their daughter Maddy, are my family members. They have been hosting their family and friends on Christmas Day since the hotel opened. During the dinner toast, Joe surprised me with a proposal! And there’s a video of the whole proposal on YouTube!
Since our engagement was at Hotel du Village, it was only right for us to get married there too! The grounds are breathtaking, the décor is beautiful, and we knew the staff would take good care of us.
Jeanne and Frank, Stacey Barone, our event stylist, and Lindsay Gilardi, the director of events, helped us plan every detail of the wedding. They were always on top of everything, which put me at ease. Guests were greeted at our ceremony with infused fruit waters and lemonade. As I walked down the aisle to Joe, a pianist played beautiful music and guests threw lavender. Our traditional ceremony was officiated by Father McGee, who married us on the Colt Patio, overlooking the beautiful landscape.
For cocktail hour, our guests got to enjoy appetizers and beverages both indoors and outdoors. We offered an elaborate artisanal cheese display and a delicious Mediterranean mezze station. Butlers also passed out our Aperol spritz signature cocktail and hors d’oeuvres such as mini lobster rolls, chicken lollipops, and butternut squash bruschetta.
Our reception was a true château wedding and took place in two rooms. We started in the Colt Ballroom for a full sit-down dinner and then moved into the Historic Ballroom for partying and dancing. The Colt Ballroom had an art-deco style with a romantic atmosphere. Everything was gold and white with hints of black, surrounded by candlelight.
The party room was complete with lounge furniture, a photo booth, a cigar roller, and a selfie mirror. Our DJ played songs from all eras and genres, from 70’s and 80’s disco to rock to club songs. We truly felt like a king and queen. Dinner began with a baby arugula salad in a white balsamic vinaigrette. For the main entrée, guests were served a duet entrée of pan seared halibut and filet mignon with gnocchi in bordelaise sauce. For dessert, we offered our custom wedding cake and outside was a s’mores station fireside!
Thank you to our parents for their love and support and thank you to all our friends and family for celebrating with us. Thank you to all our vendors for their incredible talent. And of course, thank you to the Cretella family and the whole staff at Hotel du Village for making our wedding day absolutely perfect.
