Wedding Weekend in the Mountains

Jason and I met in college, where we lived next door to each other in my freshman dorm. We started dating the following year. I am now a fair trade advocate and Jason is a software consultant. Since graduating, we have lived together in Manhattan, traveled in Europe and Latin America together, and recently settled in Philadelphia with our dog Ivy.

When looking for a venue, we liked both naturally rustic and modern spaces. The Roundhouse, with its views of the waterfall and the mountains, paired with its industrial interior, was perfect for us. We loved the beautiful hotel rooms on site, allowing us to make our wedding a whole weekend with our family and friends. Katie Guerra, general manager, and each member of The Roundhouse staff was so helpful and accommodating throughout the whole planning process. The day before our wedding, we did a hike with family and friends at nearby Storm King Mountain (only 12 miles away). We had traveled up to that area to hike before as there are many amazing local trails and views of the Hudson River. Our wedding ceremony the following day was held in the The Roundhouse ballroom. We included special touches, such as a wine ceremony using wine from Adobe Guadalupe and having our close friend, Witt Godden, officiate. The large windows in the ballroom allowed our ceremony to have an outdoor feel even though it was inside due to the rain.

We had beautiful Spanish guitar music playing during the ceremony as well as the cocktail hour. Butlers passed hors d’oeuvres such as fried brussel sprouts and deviled farm eggs. We had three food stations, including a charcuterie station, a shellfish station, and our favorite, the Spanish station with traditional paella, grilled leeks, and more. In the ballroom, the tables were decorated with high centerpieces filled with deep red and purple flowers and magnolia branches. Garland and bulb lighting were draped from the ceiling above the dance floor. Dinner started with a mixed greens salad in white balsamic shallot vinaigrette. For the entrée, guests could select from four options: poached soy-ginger sea bass, Labelle Farms duck breast in port sauce, Hill Farm short rib chimichurri, and wild hive farm grain risotto. For dessert, we offered platters of mini treats such as macaroons and tarts, alongside our four-tier buttercream wedding cake filled with dark chocolate ganache.

Our band, Silver Arrow, was wonderful and very lively. Jason and I love seeing live music together, so a band was a must for us. At the end of the night, Jason joined them and played drums to “Chameleon” by Herbie Hancock. We really appreciated how Katie and The Roundhouse staff coordinated with our wedding planners and other vendors to create the perfect day and weekend for us. It made the whole planning process go seamlessly. Thank you also to our friends and family for making our wedding so special. We look forward to coming back to The Roundhouse to celebrate our anniversary in the future!
