“Unmatched Hospitality”

Eddie and I have known each other since we were six years old. We were next door neighbors. When I was eight, my family moved away and Eddie and I lost contact. Many years later, we reconnected and went out for sushi for our first date. I am a buyer and Eddie works in business development. We hit it off immediately and continued to see each other. Very quickly, we knew we were in love and wanted to spend the rest of our lives together.

While on vacation at the Jersey Shore years later, Eddie took me out for oysters at The Reeds in Stone Harbor. When our order came out, there was a ring in the middle of the oyster! Eddie got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. He even hired a photographer to capture everything on camera! Afterward, he took me to The Windrift Hotel where our families and friends were waiting to celebrate.

After spending several weeks visiting venues, we decided to look at Hotel Du Village. We had a “Hard Hat” tour of the venue when it was still under construction and instantly fell in love with the elegant ambiance. The staff at Hotel Du Village is first class. They have a level of hospitality that is unmatched. They felt like family and treated us like royalty. Stacey Barone, our event stylist, was by my side the entire day and anticipated our needs ahead of time. Hunter Stagg, our chef, prepared a delicious farm-to-table dinner and every dish was irresistible. Daniel Schaffer, our maitre d’, was charming and hospitable.

Jeanne & Frank Cretella founded Landmark Hospitality, the company that owns Hotel Du Village and other venues in the NY/NJ/PA area, and they work to create this ambiance at all their venues.

We had an intimate ceremony in a quaint church. Inside the church is a large, custom wood organ and wood altar, both crafted by George Nakashima, a world famous woodworker and a resident of New Hope.

Our cocktail hour was held on the patio outside, overlooking a beautiful creek. Our guests were greeted with a signature fall cocktail that Eddie and I helped create. Music played in the background as our guests walked around, tasted appetizers, and hung out by the large fire pits. Included among our passed hors d’oeuvres were shrimp with avocado mousse, plus Moroccan meatballs, mini crab cakes, and more. We also offered all kinds of food stations, everything from a cheese and fruit display to a Mediterranean station to homemade gnocchi.

At the entrance to our ballroom was a large bonsai tree centerpiece laced with cream flowers. Nearby, the table card display had ivory lanterns, which provided a warm, romantic light throughout the room. Our centerpieces were a mix of lanterns and tall vases covered in roses and candles. Our sweetheart table was in front of the grand fireplace with a garland of flowers draping over the mantle.

We had a farm-to-table dinner, where guests could choose salmon with carrots and mushrooms, filet mignon in a bordelaise sauce, or a vegetarian dish. If guests had allergies or special requests, they were accommodated. We danced the rest of the night away! We also had a photo booth that was put to good use all night.

We were so happy to spend our special day with friends and family and to share our experience with Hotel Du Village with Manhattan Bride readers!
