“At Midtown Loft and Terrace,” says owner Tarkan Bastiyali, “we believe every bride should have the freedom to bring her unique vision to life. With our versatile spaces—the Loft for an elegant indoor reception and the Terrace for a picturesque ceremony and cocktail hour surrounded by greenery and stunning views of the Empire State Building—our venue offers the perfect backdrop for any dream wedding you can imagine.

Tarkan and his team are committed to bringing each bride’s vision to life. “We offer a preferred list of caterers and vendors to help curate the perfect menu and create customized floor plans for every wedding. Our venue is equipped with a high-quality speaker system and a retractable awning, which provide flexibility for both your theme and your decor. On your wedding day, their on-site representative is there from start to finish. “We ensure everything runs smoothly—from setup to cleanup—so you can fully relax and enjoy your special day.”
Over the years, Tarkan installed a one-of-a-kind retractable roof, modernized the lobby, and added a private elevator opening onto the Terrace. “Before we had the retractable roof, our wedding couples had to rent tents for outdoor events. During a trip to Turkey, I noticed retractable roofs were common and much more advanced than what we had in the U.S. I attended a trade show in Istanbul and hired one of the most established companies, Playmiye, to install the retractable roof.” Their team stayed in New York and completed the project within a week.
“I’ve always been passionate about inventing,” says Tarkan, who has applied for 11 patents and already has had nine approved. “My first patent was for a phone locker and from there, I continued pursuing new ideas. The patent I’m most passionate about is my anti-texting device, the SmartSafe. The concept is simple: the car won’t start or shift into drive unless the phone is placed in a designated console. Knowing that this invention could potentially save lives has driven me to push for its adoption in the automotive industry.” He already has a working prototype installed in a Tesla and is part of the Indigo team.
“After graduating from NYU in 2000, my primary job was to manage our building on 5th Avenue, which had been in the family since 1980. When I started working there with my sister, the building was occupied by tech companies, stock brokers, attorneys, travel agencies, accountants, and other mixed-use tenants. It had low ceilings, carpeted offices, and poorly maintained restrooms,” so he completely renovated the offices by installing high-quality maple flooring, removing ceiling tiles to create higher ceilings, and upgrading all bathrooms with marble. “During market weeks, I offered catered food and drinks in the lobby to create a welcoming atmosphere for tenants and guests.”
And now? “I will keep upgrading our offerings for all our weddings!”
