“Hallak Cleaners offers pre-wedding services such as vintage restoration, sample gown cleaning, alterations, and finishing,” says founder and manger John-Cluade Hallak. “Whether you’re breathing new life into an heirloom or altering your gown, our expert team is here for you.”
Pre-Wedding Services
Love Your Vintage?
“Our restoration service, also known as wet cleaning, is perfect for vintage fashion,” explains Donna Anne Serino, Hallak marketing director, “and also for family heirloom wedding gowns.
Donna tells us that they’ve restored many precious wedding dresses. “After a careful inspection, our talented restoration team begins the gentle process. When choosing the next care steps, we take into consideration the fabrics, ornamentation, and current condition. Depending on overall yellowing and stains, this process may take a few weeks. After its restoration, your wedding gown will be hand-finished.”
Looking for a Custom Fit?
Like any clothing, you should have your wedding gown custom-fitted. Common adjustments include hemming and taking in seams.
“We offer both basic alterations and more unique restyling options as well. Perhaps you found the perfect gown, but it needs your personal touch. Adding sleeves, changing necklines, and other details may be possible. Your tailor or seamstress works to bring your vision to life while protecting your gown’s structure.”
Scored a Great Deal?
“Sample and pre-owned gowns are a fabulous way to have your dream gown without hurting your budget,” says Donna. “Due to the extra handling, these gowns often need a little extra care.”
Hallak often has brides who come in with a sample or pre-owned gown in need of both alterations and cleaning. “For this type of combo, we suggest taking care of the alterations first. Once the alterations are complete, your gown is then cleaned and finished.”
Need a Little Freshening Up?
Even an altered gown can benefit from a little TLC. Wrinkles and creases can occur even over short-time storage.
“When it comes to your gown and heat, pressing and steaming delicate fabric is an art,” she explains. “Restore your gown to a flawless finish and you’ll walk down the aisle picture-perfect and feeling your very best
“Giving your gown the expert care it deserves ensures it will look flawless and reflect your unique style. Trust us to help you step into your big day with confidence and grace, knowing your gown is as perfect as your ‘I Do.’ “
After The Wedding
Your wedding gown tells the story of one of your most magical days.
“Whether you plan on selling or preserving your gown, cleaning it soon after your wedding day is very important,” Donna tells us. “Don’t allow stains to settle in and make them more difficult to remove.”
Unsure or Planning on Selling Your Wedding Gown?
“Post-wedding cleaning involves spot cleaning, our patented anti-sugar treatment, professional cleaning, and hand-finishing. There are several thorough inspections along the way and repairs are done as needed.” Donna assures us that each wedding dress receives personalized care that preserves its delicate fabric and unique details.
Considering Wedding Gown Preservation?
“Preservation leaves you open to possibilities such as passing your gown down or restyling into something new.”
Preserving your wedding gown preservation includes professional cleaning, finishing, and the all-important storage. “Once cleaned and finished, we wrap the gown in acid-free tissue paper. It’s then carefully placed in a museum archival preservation box. The special packaging prevents discoloration, fabric weakening, and environmental damage.”
All Hallak preservations come with a lifetime guarantee backed by the Association of Wedding Gown Specialists. “We also provide a complete report after the preservation is completed, full of before and after images.
“Your wedding gown is a piece of your history,” says Donna, “and your love story deserves to be remembered in perfect detail.”
