“Genuine Hospitality”

Isaac: We met in November 2020 while we were both living and working in NJ. We were in a grocery store aisle where I, dressed in my chef outfit as a restaurant sous chef, caught her attention. Mistakenly thinking I worked there, she approached me for assistance in finding a particular product. We shared a laugh about the mix-up and I offered to help her locate what she was looking for. I discovered she was a psychiatric nurse practitioner and now I am an architect.

Eukeria: Our first date was not the best date of our lives. Despite how the night went, I saw how kind, humble, and caring Isaac is. I knew Isaac was the man I prayed for, by his love and reverence for God. I was also blessed because he is so handsome!

Isaac: If I were to write a story about the love of my life, I would title it “A divine miracle.” When we met, she captivated me with her lovely smile and her unique name, Eukeria. For our first date, I had everything planned for a romantic night in NYC, but things didn’t go as I expected. From burning myself while getting ready to missing our dinner reservation and having to walk in the cold, I was sad and frustrated. But God is amazing and I noticed Eukeria being so caring, encouraging, and helpful.

Her sweet and loving presence was such a blessing that the evening was miraculous, full of laughter, happiness, and divine connection. By night’s end, I knew I was going to marry her. The proposal, after Eukeria had graduated with her Masters, was a surprise. Bali is one of her favorite places, so I created a Bali-themed proposal at my family’s house and told Eukeria she was coming to a graduation party. She was totally amazed and I was so happy that she said yes!!

We wanted an outdoor castle wedding at a venue near Eukeria’s hometown, because the wedding’s location is an important cultural tradition. The Wyndhurst Mansion at Miraval Berkshires Resort & Spa checked all our boxes. The Mansion has a serene outdoor landscape, an elegant interior design, and a well-preserved historic structure. The location was close to Pittsfield, MA, which was perfect.

Eukeria: Laura Reid welcomed us with open arms and we immediately felt like family. Jane Walsh and all the team at the venue were excellent in helping us plan our romantic dream wedding, including our horse and carriage, communicating with vendors, and finalizing the run of show. Her attention to detail was very caring and reassuring. Jane and Laura provided an environment of peace, organization, and harmony which created a special wedding planning experience. We felt the same genuine care when we worked with Chef Pang and Pastry Chef Thilanka, who helped us curate our delicious wedding menu and cake.

Isaac: We had a beautiful and intimate wedding ceremony. It was meant to take place on the rose terrace of the Mansion; however, rain unexpectedly changed our plans. Jane and the Mansion staff were very efficient in working with our wedding decorator to move our ceremony inside the music room. Fortunately, the sun came out for the cocktail hour. The Mansion staff welcomed our guests with non-alcoholic beverages and delicious passed hors d’oeuvres on the Rose Terrace. The short rib tostadas were a big hit, as were the burrata and fig brioche, New England lobster rolls, and chicken empanadas.

Eukeria: The Grand Ballroom’s neutral tones worked well with our simple and elegant décor. The large windows, wood floors, and beige walls and curtains provided flexibility for our white, gold, and hint of green-themed décor. In addition, the ballroom had a projection screen, which was able to display a special video for our families in Africa who couldn’t make the wedding.

Isaac: For dinner, we requested special brown butter gnocchi as an appetizer, our favorite during the tasting. We also served grilled Scottish salmon with cauliflower and baby kale, and cabernet short ribs, with carrots, buttermilk polenta, citrus gremolata, and crispy leeks. We had a vanilla cake with cream cheese frosting that matched our wedding theme. The pastry chef also added fresh flowers and gold details to the cake’s design and we had a horse and carriage ride around the grounds as our send-off.

Isaac & Eukeria: We are so grateful for the wonderful team at Wyndhurst Mansion at Miraval Berkshires Resort & Spa. The incredible hospitality of the staff was a special part of our wedding experience. We also got to spend our wedding night at the Mansion. We love the venue so much that we want to spend our first anniversary at the Mansion, hoping to make it a tradition for our future anniversaries!
