Megan & Abraam's Wedding at Liberty House ...

Why We Chose Our Venue ...

Megan & Abraam's Wedding at Liberty House (photo: Kait Peña)“Our first choice was Liberty House because of its stunning atmosphere and view of Manhattan along with rave reviews from friends and family. As we walked into the main ballroom, my parents both smiled when they saw my face as we saw the most spectacular view of the city. We fell in love with the modern cocktail hour room as well as the courtyard.

“But nothing prepared us for the attention to detail and luxury we experienced! During our first meeting, we were warmly greeted with hugs from Director of Events Danielle Villa. She gave us a tour of the grounds and thoroughly explained what our wedding day would look like.”

“Beautiful & Unique”

Abraam and I met through mutual friends at a bar and restaurant in Montclair, New Jersey. Our first date was a spectacular day in Brooklyn, where we attended a food festival called Smorgasborg. We ended the day with a walk on the Brooklyn Bridge. We bonded over our ambitions and drive to work hard in all we do. He told me about his and his father’s wholesale real estate investing business, and his dream to open a restaurant. I told him about my passion for teaching and love for my students. We dated for two years, then Abraam popped the question on a freezing day in January of 2021. He proposed in DUMBO, Brooklyn, bringing it back to where it all started!

Our first choice was Liberty House because of its stunning atmosphere and view of Manhattan along with rave reviews from friends and family. As we walked into the main ballroom, my parents both smiled when they saw my face as we saw the most spectacular view of the city. We fell in love with the modern cocktail hour room as well as the courtyard. But nothing prepared us for the attention to detail and luxury we experienced!

During our first meeting, we were warmly greeted with hugs from Director of Events Danielle Villa. She gave us a tour of the grounds and thoroughly explained what our wedding day would look like. She stopped to take pictures of us with the spectacular skyline and answered every question we had! Danielle’s warm and welcoming demeanor and attention to detail was the icing on the cake for us. We decided on the spot that Liberty House was the one and signed our contract.

We planned our ceremony to occur right before sunset, so our first kiss as a married couple happened just as the sun was setting and we could see the cotton candy sky with orange and red reflections on the magnificent skyscrapers. Liberty House’s abundant dishes for cocktail hour were a huge hit with all our guests. We enjoyed the beginning of cocktail hour in our bridal suite, where our maître d’ brought platter after platter of delicious appetizers. Our favorites were popcorn chicken, creamed spinach, truffled beef tenderloin, and lobster mac and cheese tarts with smoked bacon, which rocked!

The Grand Ballroom has 35-foot ceilings with exposed woodwork and brand new beautiful white marble floors. The floor-to-ceiling windows facing the New York skyline make it a beautiful and unique space for a wedding. We chose oval-shaped tables for our guests, with white tablecloths, gold accent pieces, and simple low white floral arrangements for our centerpieces. Simple string lights hanging from the ceiling added to the warm ambiance.

Dinner started with a delicious salad of spinach, roasted pears, dried apricots, toasted almonds, goat cheese, and champagne vinaigrette. For entrées, guests selected grilled filet mignon or pan-seared Chatham cod, each with decadent sides. The venue was extremely accommodating to guests who had food allergies or restrictions. The filets were absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection.

We chose a beautiful but simple four-tier cake with white icing and inside layers alternating between chocolate mousse and dulce de leche. Our florist added a few flowers to give it a rustic look. Guests were also given a selection of desserts at each table.

Both Abraam and I would like to thank my father and mother, Richard Knott and JoAnn Brady, for all their help, physically, emotionally, and financially. We also want to thank his parents, Alfy and Mary Meleika, for all their contributions. A huge thank you goes to  Danielle Villa and the staff at Liberty House for such a perfect evening of love, food, fun, and celebration. We also want to thank all our vendors. Kait Peña was absolutely amazing and captured every special moment in beautiful photographs. Ashley Raibick and her crew, along with Lorena Ferreira and her assistant, had the bride and bridal party looking flawless.

We want to thank our bridal party for all the effort they put in to make it a special time for us. A special shoutout to our guests as well for making time to attend our wedding.
