"When we were introduced, Graham thought I was dating Adam, so he didn’t ask for my number. Later that month, Adam brought me to a birthday party that he knew Graham would also be attending. Graham and I ended up sitting next to each other and talking the entire time. When the topic rolled around to our mutual love for Korean food, I said we should get some together. Graham, being incredibly shy, didn’t take the bait.

"Finally, the following weekend we both happened to go to a local bar. I asked him out again, and this time he said yes. Since then, we discovered that we both love to run, hike, and travel. We’ve been to Iceland, India, Mexico, Jamaica, England, and New Zealand.
"A few months later, Graham was hit by a drunk driver. Luckily, he only broke his left hand. To make things easier, he came to live with me. I was starting medical school at Columbia University in the fall, and Graham began working as Vice President for EFI Actuaries.

"We were engaged on February 4, 2005, two days before my birthday. The entire week, Graham kept surprising me with little gifts. Then one night he took me to Babbo. During dinner he gave me my birthday gift, a video iPod. When I turned it on there was a video of him singing Happy Birthday and then proposing on bended knee. When I looked up, Graham had the ring in hand and asked me to marry him.

"We chose The Palm House because the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, where the venue is located, allows you and your guests to have their peaceful gardens all to yourselves! We felt completely separated from the hustle and bustle of New York City. All we heard was the rustle of leaves and the laughter of children.
"The glass enclosure of the Palm House lets spectacular sunlight in even on rainy days, and the indoor gardens let the guests enjoy nature no matter the weather. We worked with Leigh Kamioner, the event coordinator at The Palm House. During the week of the wedding, I must have called her 100 times just to ask little questions, and she was always extremely accommodating.

"The day of our wedding it rained during our ceremony, which had been set up outdoors. We were concerned. There were the stringed instruments of the quartet, everyone’s beautiful clothing, cute hair styles, and shoes. Leigh told me not to worry. Within 15 minutes, the entire ceremony and all the guests were brought inside.

"After the ceremony, Leigh had traditional Korean drummers lead everyone out through the Japanese bonsai garden to the conservatory garden where the cocktail hour was held. The guests couldn’t stop talking about how fun that was. Leigh and I had never planned that. She came up with it on her own. While the guests were being led away to the cocktail hour, Leigh took us into a side room and brought us two plates of hors d’oeuvres and champagne. It was so amazingly thoughtful!

"Our wedding was filled with the love and talents of all our friends and family. We used cranes as a central theme. They symbolize love, luck, and longevity in the Asian culture. We put them on the menus, place cards, and thank-you cards. The entire room was decorated with hints of orange, blue, and silver. With the help of my bridesmaids, we created centerpieces of beautiful Spanish plates, silvery gray candles, dried protea, and hand-folded paper cranes.

"The Palm House caterers are consummate professionals and they provided delicious food that our guests are still talking about. Favorites included the fennel and citrus salad, Maryland crab cakes, halibut, and made-to-order filet mignon. The Palm House also made our stunning and elegant wedding cake, an off-set box design sponge cake filled with light fruit and whipped cream.

"The entire day was absolute perfection! We were so fortunate to have worked with Leigh and get married in such a beautiful setting. Thank you to our family and The Palm House at The Brooklyn Botanic Gardens for making our wedding day a huge success!"
