"James and I grew up two streets away from each other in Whippany, New Jersey. We were introduced by a mutual friend in December of 2000, years later. We went on our first date to Florentine Grill and hit it off immediately. We learned that we both loved NASCAR racing and country music.

"We started dating while I was finishing my senior year at Fairleigh Dickinson University, and we continued dating while I got my masters in elementary education and started teaching. In November of 2004 we purchased a house together, in New Jersey, and shortly after James proposed.

"James and I both love cars, and his dream has always been to own a Ford Mustang. One night he came home and told me he bought one. He fooled me and pulled a small model of the car from his pocket. Inside its trunk was a surprise. He had postponed buying a Mustang to buy my ring!

"We started planning right away. Since James is a manager at a party rental company, he knew several venues in the area. When we visited the Brooklake Country Club, we knew it was perfect. The back wall has a big window that offers a beautiful view of the golf course and lake. We liked that they only host one wedding at a time and could comfortably accommodate our 200 guests.

"The staff at Brooklake was wonderful! Carol Landers was always there to answers my questions, no matter how small. She was a great source of information and really helped us with the details of our wedding.

"At our reception, everyone said the entrees were amazing. We had grilled filet mignon with red wine shallot reduction, French cut breast of chicken with fresh asparagus and sundried tomato, and mustard glazed filet of salmon. For dessert the Brooklake even decorated our cake with pink flowers to match the bouquets and centerpieces. The highlight of the evening was the chocolate fountain.
