"Ian and I attended Syracuse University and met our senior year, when we were next door neighbors in the same apartment building. We started out as friends and soon it became apparent to us that we had stumbled upon something quite special. (Now I work as a marriage and family therapist, and Ian works in finance.)

"We dated for over five years and grew very close to each other’s friends and families. We were ready to take the next step. He planned a trip to Las Vegas, and gave me every sign that he was going to propose. But, while we had a fantastic time, there was no proposal.

"Three weeks later we had plans to meet his brother and sister-in-law for a celebratory dinner for my graduation from graduate school. Last minute, Ian’s brother called to cancel. Admittedly, I was quite disappointed.

"Moments later, I heard Stevie Wonder’s 'You are the Sunshine of My Life' blaring outside. The music was coming from a huge stretch limousine. When I turned around to look at Ian, he was already on one knee with a gorgeous ring in hand! After a champagne-filled limo ride, we enjoyed dinner at Vincent’s in Little Italy, and a horse and carriage ride through Central Park.

"From the moment we drove into Pleasantdale Château, we knew it was the perfect venue for us. It was as if we had leapt into a page from a fairy tale. Once we met with Nat Nugent, the director of sales and catering, we knew we were in good hands.

"Every request we had of him was always welcomed with a warm, 'Of course, don’t worry about a thing!' All in all, the staff truly went above and beyond for us, and made every single wish and desire become a reality.

"At one point during the ceremony, two deer came up towards the chuppah and drank from the nearby pond! It felt like we were in a dream.
